No-code myths debunked
Although visual “no-code” platforms have powered real businesses for well over a decade - from Wordpress over early Zapier automations to today’s enterprise-grade Bubble, Webflow, Make, and Xano stacks - myths about robustness and capabilities still linger. The following table gathers the most common misconceptions I hear online and offline.
Mature platforms now power VC-backed startups and regulated fintech products in production. The French talent-marketplace Comet built its production platform entirely on Bubble, scaled to 20 000+ freelancers, and raised $13 million. 🔗Dividend Finance processes $1 billion+ of loan volume on its Bubble-based platform. 🔗What matters is sound architecture (databases, roles, workflows) - not whether the UI was hand-coded.
Modern no-code back-ends and automation layers auto-scale exactly like coded systems. Scalability depends on design.SweepBright CRM automates 27 million tasks every month with Zapier Enterprise. 🔗Decathlon launched a customer-facing search engine on Xano in 4 weeks and can grow it enterprise-wide. 🔗And again, Dividend Finance processed billions of dollars in solar-loan volume on a Bubble back-end before its acquisition by Fifth Third Bank.
No-code vendors hold the same certifications as traditional SaaS. The major platforms sit on top of AWS, GCP or Azure and inherit ISO-27001, SOC 2, HIPAA and GDPR controls.Bubble offers SOC 2 Type II, GDPR, HIPAA options plus granular server-side privacy rules. 🔗Make.com runs EU-only data centers and a dedicated DPA. Make’s Enterprise tier runs in an isolated AWS environment, ISO 27001-certified and SOC 2-audited. 🔗Security is a practice rather than a programming language choice.
In practice it frees engineers to focus on core product work while business teams own the website or ops tools.Dropbox Sign moved its 1,000-page marketing site to Webflow, cutting dev tickets by 67 % and letting engineers ship product features faster. 🔗
Brands use no-code for high-end, fully-custom experiences.Orangetheory Fitness rebuilt its global site on Webflow, improved page-speed 4× and saves $6 million a year while keeping on-brand design control. 🔗
Most platforms offer GraphQL/REST APIs, SQL exports or one-click migrations. Some platforms expose your raw database or let you self-host.You can also decouple logic: keep database in Airtable, host business logic in Make, and swap UIs later.Lock-in risk is a business decision, not a hard limit.
With proper architecture, no-code back-ends serve hundreds of thousands of requests daily.Abstractions add overhead, but smart caching, edge CDNs and external DBs negate most latency.Bottle-necks usually stem from unoptimised queries or giant images - issues that plague coded apps too.
Advanced workflow engines orchestrate multi-system processes at scale.Car-subscription scale-up FINN orchestrates multi-system fleet, billing, and customer flows via 100-step scenarios in Make, powering rapid growth across markets.A German solar-panel installer runs a 120-step Make scenario that syncs CAD drawings, CRM data and warehouse stock across six systems. When logic really needs code, most platforms let you embed functions.
Job boards list thousands of roles for Webflow, Bubble and n8n specialists.Companies that empower citizen developers innovate measurably faster.McKinsey and BCG both run internal “Citizen Developer” programs. Capgemini built a 400-consultant Bubble practice.A McKinsey survey found companies that empower citizen developers score 33 % higher on innovation than their peers. 🔗Knowing no-code and process design is now a hiring differentiator, especially for product, ops and growth roles.
Who is Nomad Nocode?
Hi 👋 I'm Oliver
My no-code journey started a few years ago, when - after years in consulting and in every product role imaginable - I felt it was time to move from "talking" to building. As someone that had little technical background, I never imagined to be able to build software with "my own hands" one day. Every since I started building with No-code, I was fascinated by the endless possibilities it provided.Fast forward to today, I am building web & mobile apps for my clients and helping businesses to automate backoffice as well as customer interactions. All while still bringing my own ideas to live with the same technology. It's my privilege to share my passion for No-code with you. Let's build something together!
Why "Nomad"?
Building with No-code enabled me to work from wherever I want while serving my clients and customers globally.Along the way I meet other No-code enthusiasts and share my passion for this technology on conferences and meet-ups.
